General Dentistry

How often should I visit the dentist?

We recommend visiting the dentist for a check-up and cleaning every six months. Regular visits allow us to catch issues early, provide thorough cleanings, and keep your smile looking its best. We may suggest more frequent visits if you have specific concerns about your dental health.

Of course, we recommend visiting Secure Dental twice per year, as it is the best option so that we can catch any issues early. However, it all starts with brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste and flossing daily. For best results, limit sugary snacks and drinks and drink plenty of water.

During your check-up, we may recommend sealants or fluoride treatments for added protection.

Yes, dental X-rays are indeed safe. At Secure Dental, we utilize advanced digital X-ray technology that emits minimal radiation—far less than you would encounter in many everyday situations, such as exposure to natural background radiation. These X-rays are not just a routine part of your dental visit; they play a crucial role in helping us detect various oral health issues at an early stage, which allows us to address and treat them before they escalate into more serious problems that could require more extensive procedures. By prioritizing early detection through the use of X-rays, we ensure that your overall dental health remains in optimal condition.

We understand that dental procedures can be stressful and cause our patients a lot of anxiety. We offer clear communication during your dental procedures to help navigate this feeling. We also offer sedation options to help you feel more comfortable during your dental procedures.

Dental Implants

How long do dental implants last?

Dental implants can last a lifetime with proper care. For this reason, it is important that you continue to brush your teeth twice a day and floss once daily. We also recommend that patients continue to see our dentists for preventive care. The healthier your smile, the longer your dental implants are likely to last.

In most cases, absolutely not! While some may have been told by another dentist that they’re too old or don’t have enough bone for dental implants, this is likely not true. Over the past decade, dental implant technology and techniques have advanced significantly, allowing many more patients to become candidates, even if they weren’t before.

Many dentists have little to no training in these advanced techniques and may not be able to provide the treatment you need. However, our doctors have years of experience successfully placing implants in patients with minimal bone, and the results have been life-changing for our patients!

If you’ve been told by another dentist that you’re not a candidate, we highly recommend getting a second opinion at Secure Dental. Our experienced doctors may be able to provide the life-changing treatment you’ve been searching for.

Ideal candidates for dental implants:

  • Have one or more missing teeth

  • Have adequate bone volume and bone height to support dental implants

  • Do not smoke

  • Are free of gum disease

  • Are in fair overall health

  • Have excellent oral hygiene habits

Even if you do not currently qualify for dental implants, you may qualify in the future after some preparatory dental treatment. For example, you may need a bone graft so your jaw can support the implants. During your consultation, we will frankly tell you whether you are currently a candidate and what you can expect throughout your tooth replacement journey.

Dental implants offer numerous advantages over other restorative options. We believe the top benefit they offer patients is their impact on health. Since the implant consists of a post that embeds into the jawbone, it simulates the advantage of a natural tooth root. In addition to serving as a stable foundation for a tooth, a tooth root serves as a healthy stimulant for the jawbone. By using an artificial implant post, the jawbone is enabled to grow stronger and resist deterioration. Other benefits include improved function, easy maintenance, and a phenomenal appearance.

Cosmetic Dentistry

What are dental veneers, and how do they enhance my smile?

Dental veneers are ultra-thin, custom-made shells—typically crafted from porcelain or composite resin—bonded to the front surfaces of teeth. They effectively address issues like discoloration, chips, gaps, or misalignment, providing a natural-looking and durable solution to enhance your smile. With proper care, veneers can last between 10 and 15 years.

At Secure Dental, we offer a full range of cosmetic treatments, including professional teeth whitening, dental veneers, bonding, crowns, and smile makeovers. Each treatment is tailored to your unique goals and oral health needs, whether you’re looking for a subtle enhancement or a full transformation. During your consultation, we’ll create a personalized plan to help you achieve the smile you’ve always wanted.

Yes, professional teeth whitening is a safe and effective procedure when performed under the supervision of our dental professionals. The longevity of whitening results varies based on individual habits, but with proper care, the effects can last from six months up to two years. Regular dental check-ups and good oral hygiene practices can help maintain your brighter smile

Most individuals seeking to improve the appearance of their smile are candidates for cosmetic dentistry. However, it’s essential to have healthy teeth and gums before undergoing any cosmetic procedures. During your consultation at Secure Dental, we’ll assess your oral health and discuss the best treatment options tailored to your needs.
